The journalist spent more than a decade writing about various sports on behalf of The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols was hired by ESPN in 2004 and worked for nearly nine years with the company, winning two Emmy Awards. She also was a guest on some of the most popular programs on ESPN like SportsCenter as well as NFL Countdown. Also, she was a part of the network's Monday Night Football broadcasts as reporter on the sidelines. The next step was CNN and Turner Sports. The only woman to have been picked from over two hundred nominations in the history of 42 years for the honor.
